I use WordPress to create most of my websites and blogs…and there are many good reasons why I prefer the WordPress Platform…but for now, you can experiment with your own TOTALLY FREE website too. No hosting fees, no expensive software and there’s a great support forum to help you out when you get stuck.
Not only can these type of websites be completely FREE to construct, but they can be functional, attractive – and get traffic at the same time. There are limitations of course (like you can’t make money from adsense advertising and there are only a small number of themes and extras to choose from etc) but for experimentation and other more specific purposes – they are terrific. (I’ll talk about how to REALLY make the most of these free sites on another post.)
Both were free to build…and all the hosting is also done completely FREE through wordpress.com. One of them gets indexed by google in a matter of minutes after I make a post and stays high in searches on a continual basis.

If you are looking for a video to show you how to begin working with wordpress, writing your first posts, making categories and using the archives etc. this is quite good.
This particular video also shows how to utilize your photos on Flickr…but you can easily upload photographs to your website of blog just from your computer, if you aren’t familiar with Flickr.
Registering your first free website at wordpress.com can seem a little daunting – I remember when I fist started – I registered the name, took one look at it and then left it sit idle or a few months.
If I’d taken a look at a video tutorial or two, it would have been so much easier.

Not only is the installation free, but wordpress host your website for you FREE too.
The only down-sides are, your domain name always contains .wordpress.com eg. http://southgippsland.wordpress.com, there is a limit to how much you can upload (though I have never come close to reaching this limit) and you are not allowed to make money from affiliate links or advertising…there are a few other small limitations too, but they’re fairly insignificant.
