No hosting fees, no expensive software and there’s a great support forum to help you out when you get stuck.

Not only can these type of websites be completely FREE to construct, but they can be functional, attractive – and get traffic at the same time. There are limitations of course (like you can’t make money from adsense advertising and there are only a small number of themes and extras to choose from etc) but for experimentation and other more specific purposes – they are terrific. (I’ll talk about how to REALLY make the most of these free sites on another post.)

Both were free to build…and all the hosting is also done completely FREE through wordpress.com. One of them gets indexed by google in a matter of minutes after I make a post and stays high in searches on a continual basis.

The only down-sides are, your domain name always contains .wordpress.com eg. http://southgippsland.wordpress.com, there is a limit to how much you can upload (though I have never come close to reaching this limit) and you are not allowed to make money from affiliate links or advertising…there are a few other small limitations too, but they’re fairly insignificant.
