Types Of Websites

The Best Websites – I’ve heard it said that “simple websites are always the best“. Take a look at YouTube, EBay or Google for instance…the websites that get the most traffic and make the most money from the Internet.

Money Making Websites –  What do YOU have, that people will pay money for? Do you have a product, a service, an idea, some useful information? Whatever it is, it needs to be communicated effectively and efficiently with several easy ways for people to purchase or order what you offer. Maybe you could use one of the best ideas already available by getting a FREE E-Commerce Website already stocked with products.

Flash Websites – It takes some people a while to accept the fact that the ‘flashy’ websites (you know, the ones that look really impressive) might look good, but because of all the clutter, flashing images, and distractions, they generally don’t inspire us to return…and consequently buy the products or services on offer.

Paid Membership Websites – These websites provide ongoing education around their specific topic. They may also offer a large archive of E-Books, software, scripts, tutorial videos, audios, PLR articles, products with resale rights and other resources that can be downloaded digitally. Members will pay a fixed fee every month to retain their membership.

Sales Page Websites – Usually a very long and ugly single page with bright colours, flashing buttons and high pitched sales hype with a definite ‘call to action’. Most people say they hate them, but the best ones do have a high conversion success rate.

Information Websites – These websites give people basic information about any given topic. The best ones use carefully selected keywords and phrases to ensure they get high traffic flows. My personal information website at Mini Movie Maker is not particularly pretty, took only two days to build, does not require any ongoing maintenance or updating BUT makes me hundreds of dollars each year without trying.

Attractive Websites – But a website still needs to be attractive. The content needs to be compelling. It needs to be able to answer our questions, quickly and efficiently. Most web-surfers sum up a site in the first 6 to 10 seconds. Everyone needs something that will give them instantly what they want.

Portal Websites – Yahoo, Netscape and Microsoft Network are examples of major portals, which are created as gateways to the Internet that people tend to use as an anchor point. There are also Niche Portals like gardening.com or pets.com.

Basic Business Websites – These websites generally describe in pictures and words the benefits customers will get by buying their product or service. They usually provide directions to their brick-and-mortar business along with an ‘About Us’, a ‘Newsletter Sign-Up Form’ and a ‘Product List’ or ‘Services Directory’.

E-Commerce Websites – These are an extensive of a business website and offer customers methods of purchasing, ordering or booking online. Depending on the number of products, a shopping cart or an automated real-time reservation program may also be included to make the process more efficient. Some E-Commerce websites are already set up with products waiting for you to take ownership and promote them.

Social Networking Websites – Examples like MySpace, Facebook, Flickr and YouTube create a free place for people to congregate and communicate and then make money from the backend products or advertising they sell due to the high traffic flow.

Interactive Websites – Forums and blogs, create a place for people to comment and communicate. Some of the most popular blogs get thousands of visitors per day and include the Samshing Magazing, Seth’s Blog, the Official Google Blog and Celebrity Gossip.

Auction Websites – An automated online website where people can sign up to buy and sell new and used products of all types. E-Bay is generally the most widely utilized.

Dating Websites – These sites allow you to register, chat with and meet other interested members. I have read that Markus Frind makes well over $10,000 a day from his free dating site, Plenty of Fish by using Adsense.

Made for Adsense Websites These websites have a domian name with a specific keyword and they come with a selection of pre-written articles around the keyword specific topic. Examples of common topics include weight-loss, cancer, money and health. These are generally low maintenance sites that are plastered with appropriate advertising.

Online Gaming/Music/Video/Television Websites – These offer their interested visitors a way to play, listen or watch something online which may also include some interaction with other Internet users.

[…this is just a short list, there are many more types of websites. Feel free to add your example in the comment box below…]
